Installation instructions

Set-up Step 1: Install the Seismic app into a Slack workspace

  1. Log into the appropriate Slack workspace.
  2. Enter https://api.seismic.com/slack/v1/installSlack into your web browser.
  3. From the Seismic / Slack integration screen, select Install.  A message will appear in your web browser indicating that the Seismic Slack application is installed.
  4. Launch Slack.
  5. Navigate to the appropriate Slack workspace.
  6. Select Apps to confirm that the Seismic app has been installed.
  7. Select View next to the Seismic app in the Manage app dialog.

Set-up Step 2: Link the Slack workspace to a Seismic tenant

  1. Launch and log into Slack.
  2. Type /seismic link [Seismic tenant name] into the Slack message box, and then press Enter.
  3. Select Click here to link [Seismic tenant name].
  4. Type in your Seismic username and password.
  5. Select Login.

Set-up Step 3: Log into a Seismic tenant from a Slack workspace

  1. Launch and log into Slack.
  2. Type /seismic login into the Slack message box, and then press Enter.
  3. Select Login to Seismic in the dialog box.
  4. Type in your Seismic username and password.
  5. Select Login.

Using Seismic within Slack

  1. Launch and log into Slack.
  2. To view a list of the available Seismic slash commands, enter /seismic help into the Slack message box.
  3. To search, use the following slash commands and then press Enter.

  1. The first five search results are displayed after searching.
  2. Select Post Here from the search results to post a link to the document in Slack.
  3. Select Open in Seismic from the search results to open the document in Seismic.
